Wisconsin Virtual Academy: Celebrating Our May Students of the Month

We’re thrilled to announce Wisconsin Virtual Academy’s Students of the Month for May! These exceptional students were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding behavior, academic achievement, and a positive attitude throughout the month.
To ensure a fair selection process, a random drawing was held to determine the winners from all the deserving nominees. We’re thrilled to highlight the achievements of these students and the positive impact they’ve made on our virtual learning community.
Elementary School Student of the Month: Joseph (Joss) Lankau – 5th Grade
Mrs. Marten, Joss’s teacher, shared this about Joss’s nomination: “Joss has done an EXCELLENT job in all areas this year! He is an active learner who works hard to complete his work. I’ve seen Joss shine specifically in PBL as he is very knowledgeable about all things History. He kindly shares his knowledge, even when it’s uncomfortable to get on the mic. Joss- I’m so impressed with the way you are willing to step outside your comfort zone and our class has the pleasure of learning more because of your willingness!” Middle School Student of the Month: Oliver Felland – 7th Grade Mr. Braun, Oliver’s teacher, shared this about Oliver’s nomination: “Oliver always comes to class and is prepared to learn for the whole class. He brings a positive attitude and work ethic to every CC. Also, he is great at participating in class by either reading the text or answering questions in chat.”

High School Student of the Month: Cassie Griffin – 10th Grade
Mr. Pegelow, Cassie’s teacher, shared this about Cassie’s nomination: “Cassie has really taken ownership of her learning. She is present, engaged and an active participant in class. Not only is she putting full effort into coursework, but she is also enjoying it by sharing her projects with relatives. We were able to highlight her art skills in a high school staff meeting that requested class projects that included art. She will go on the microphone to inspire other students sharing how she used to not ask for help but now does and is thriving in school. She often attends her counselor’s drop-in office hours to check in with how the counselor is doing and share joys from school. She offers to support fellow students with coursework. She is an overall joy and really getting a lot out of her education. It is greatly appreciated how she will provide gratitude and praise for her teachers as well. Cassie is truly succeeding and trying to help fellow students succeed as well!”
