Grade 3-5 Teachers
Ashley Mallo, Elementary Teacher (Grades 3-5)
Ashley Mallo went to Northern Illinois University for a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and to Olivet Nazarene University for a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. She previously taught for four years in the Mukwonago school district (grades 1,2, 3 and 5). Ms. Mallo joined the WIVA teaching team in 2015 and is very excited to be here.
Jaime Burskey, Elementary Teacher (Grades 3–5)
Jaime Burskey earned both her elementary and alternative learning teaching certifications through Marian University, and her bachelor's degree from UW-Green Bay. She is also studying toward her master's degree in education. Before joining WIVA in the 2011–2012 school year, she had a variety of education experiences, including being a private tutor, substitute teacher, and third-grade teacher. Jaime is an advocate for the many benefits and flexibility of virtual education, and is excited to partner with her students and families to make education meaningful and fun in her virtual classroom.
Amanda Kimpel, Elementary Teacher (Grades 3–5)
Amanda Kimpel obtained her bachelor's degree in elementary and middle education with a minor in social studies from Marian University. Her previous teaching experience includes working as a substitute teacher in all grade levels. Amanda also has over 10 years' experience working with people with special needs, including being a Special Olympics coach. She is excited to help students work towards success and also make learning fun.
Sara Marlborough, Elementary Teacher (Grades 3-5)
Sara Marlborough obtained her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Oshkosh. She graduated in May of 2014, so WIVA is her first professional education experience. Prior to WIVA , Sara spent 2 years working at a childcare center with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. She also worked in a group home with children with special needs. Sara has much experience working with and teaching children. She is excited for this opportunity to help students work towards success.
Miriam Mueller-Owens, Elementary Teacher (Grades 3–5)
Miriam Mueller-Owens is in her sixth year of working with WIVA on the third- through fifth-grade team, as well as being an instructional coach and ELL coordinator. Miriam brings more than 15 years of teaching experience to the team. She began teaching kindergarten in southern Louisiana, and after three years, she moved to Madison where she earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction at the UW-Madison. In Madison, she taught a variety of grade levels, from first through fifth. Miriam is excited about another wonderful year with WIVA .
