Meet Our Administrators

Dr. Sara R. Cutler, Head of School

Sara Cutler

Dr. Sara R. Cutler has been a leader in public education for over 20 years. She lives in Madison, WI and has two teenage sons, who have had divergent experiences in our public education system. Sara has a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, through the Executive PhD cohort program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well a master’s degree in Educational Philosophy. Her doctoral research was an interracial examination: White Teacher, Black Students: Racializing Successful Mathematical Pedagogy.
Sara began her career in California as a bilingual teacher, advocating for the rights of Spanish speakers in the public-school system. Later she became an instructional coach and content specialist, working for the Department of Education in New York State. In 2003 she returned to Wisconsin where she served as an elementary classroom teacher, curriculum/professional developer and a school-wide facilitator, followed by the school principalship.
Sara became an educator in order to shift the paradigms that traditionally control our public-school systems. She is committed to developing a school culture that is relentlessly focused on equitable outcomes where all children believe in their gifts, identifying as scholars headed toward college and careers.

Becky Eberhardt, Manager of Special Programs

Becky Eberhardt is happy to be a part of the WIVA team! She obtained her master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University in May of 2003. Becky has been a Special Education Director for approximately eleven years, spending four of those years in a dual role as both Director and PreK-12 Principal in a small, rural district. She is married and has four sons ranging in age from seven to 19 and also has three dogs and two cats that complete her family. Becky in her spare time enjoys camping with her family and spending time with friends.

Desiree Rahmlow, Academic Administrator (Principal) 6-8 Middle School

Desiree Rahmlow is thrilled to now focus on the Middle School at WIVA. She joined WIVA as the K8 Academic Administrator/Principal starting with the 2019-2020 school year. She believes that all learning is personal, honors that no learning is ever one-size-fits-all, and knows that WIVA shares this vision since students' and families' unique needs are the driving force of the school. Desiree earned her MSE in Educational Administration from Concordia University - Mequon with dual certification as a Principal and Direction of Instruction. Her 17 years of professional experience in education have included numerous strong roles including RtI Team Leader, PBIS Coach, Professional Development Facilitator, Math and Reading Interventionist, Behavior Interventionist, Department Chair, Alternative Education Teacher, and English and Speech Communications Teacher. An advocate of children beyond her career, Desiree is the founder and president of the Kiwanis Club of Slinger (WI) where she lives. In her spare time, she enjoys live music, board games, unique cuisine, and outdoor adventures with her husband, two daughters, and family and friends.

Shawna Stueck, Interim Academic Administrator (Principal) K–5 Elementary

Shawna holds two master’s degrees in educational leadership with focuses on literacy and also administration, PK - 12. Prior to her current position, she served as assistant principal (K-8), she has been a K-2 teacher, K-5 Team Lead, new teacher mentor, and also a K-8 literacy interventionist. Additionally, Shawna holds a license in early childhood special education, and finds that working with children with varying needs and abilities – particularly those on the autism spectrum – is near and dear to her heart. Shawna believes in servant leadership and coaching as her opportunity to raise others up – staff, students, and learning coaches alike – as they grow together in our unique virtual, public, charter school environment. Shawna believes in the ability of our school to be a place for students to thrive so much that she’s also familiar with the essential role of Learning Coach – successfully supporting two of her own children through to graduation at WIVA, and currently seeing her youngest excel at WIDCA! Outside of work, Shawna enjoys remodeling her 120 year old historic home, spending quality time with her family, reading, researching, and writing, music, and doing anything by the water. Shawna’s favorite quote is by Theodore Roosevelt, "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." Shawna feels that her role as Interim Principal at WIVA K-5 is far and away work worth doing.

Cindy Worden, Academic Administrator (Principal) High School grades 9–12

Cindy Worden is a graduate from UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree in behavioral science and law and sociology. She earned her MSE in school counseling PK–12 from UW-Oshkosh. In December 2013, Cindy completed her MAE from Marian University with an emphasis in educational leadership. Cindy's professional experiences include high school counseling, dean of students, juvenile criminal justice, social work, and technology training. She has worked in virtual education since 2007.

Carrie Cherney, Assistant Academic Administrator (Assistant Principal) High School grades 9–12

Carrie Cherney earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at UW-Green Bay and her masters in Educational Leadership from Viterbo University. She has been a part of WIVA High School since 2009, teaching various math courses. Since 2017 she has been the Assistant Academic Administrator at WIVA, DCA, and ISWI.


Erin Haugom, Operations Manager

Erin Haugom

Erin Haugom joined the WIVA team as the operations manager in 2012. She has a bachelor's degree in human services and more than ten years office experience in program coordination, data tracking and reporting, IT support services, and customer service. Erin looks forward to being part of Wisconsin Virtual Academy and using her expertise to support the virtual learning community.


Jodell Gagnow, Student Support Administrator

Jodell Gagnow

Jodell Gagnow is passionate about transforming academic growth through motivation, encouragement, and supporting others in finding their inner spark. She has been affiliated with K12 Stride Learning since 2015. Jodell’s education consists of a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and she has a technical degree in Dental Assisting. She also continues to participate in continuing education.

Her personal mission statement is “fear not, every dawn opens hope and opportunity.” Jodell is an imaginative leader that focuses on an individual’s uniqueness as a strength.

Jodell can often be found in the outdoors on a walk with her dog or sitting in the sun reading a book during her down time.
