Our mission is to establish relationships with Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA) students by offering support in their academic, career, personal, and social development. Through key partnerships, we ensure that all students receive an individualized plan that maximizes their strengths and is tailored to their postsecondary aspirations.
Alyssa Zingler | WIVA Students last names L-Re
Alyssa Zingler has earned her Master’s in Counseling from Lakeland University. This is her 3rd year at WIVA (2022/2023). Mrs. Zingler worked previously for her local school district. She has a joy for learning and continues to learn something new each day. Mrs. Zingler has two small children who she enjoys immensely. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking and practicing yoga.

Tonya Krueger | WIVA Students last names Rf-Z
Mrs. Krueger joined the WIVA team during the 2019–2020 school year. New to Wisconsin, but not new to school counseling, she has worked in education for 14 years as a teacher, school counselor, and CTE director in Arizona. She earned a bachelor's degree in finance and economics, a master's degree in education with a focus on teaching, and a second master's degree in school counseling. She is a lifelong learner and is thrilled to work with so many young adults as they navigate the path that will lead them through life. Mrs. Krueger is married to a fellow educator, and they have three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys traveling (the most!), reading (obsessively), running (occasionally), and watching The Office (compulsively). Mrs. Krueger works with the entire WIVA team to support our families and students while focusing on student success and achievement.

Joann Miller
Ms. Miller is joining WIVA after 14 ½ years in the traditional high school setting. She received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with a minor in Recreation Therapy, and her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ms. Miller has 3 young adult children, including one still in high school. She spends a lot of time near the Fox Cities area and near all of the lakes in central Wisconsin. When not working, Ms. Miller loves to travel, spend time outside (mainly in the warm months), spend time with her family, and loves kayaking in the summer!

Mary Chris Richard
Mrs. Richard is excited for a new adventure at WIVA! For the last twelve years, she has worked in public education in Kentucky and Wisconsin. Mrs. Richard worked as an Elementary Cross Categorical Teacher for eight years. She obtained her Masters in School Counseling Degree from Concordia University and has worked as a Middle School Counselor in Dane Co. for the last four years. She has a passion for working with students across all ages and enjoys helping them explore their passions and strengths while navigating life's challenges. Mrs. Richard lives in the Madison area with her husband and four young children. She loves adventuring with her family outdoors, traveling and cheering on her Kentucky Wildcats!

Elizabeth Van Zeeland
Mrs. Van Zeeland joined the WIVA team at the start of the 2022-2023 school year after spending time in a traditional school setting in the Wauwatosa School District. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies with a minor in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and will finish her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling – School Concentration in the Spring of 2023 from Mount Mary University. Mrs. Van Zeeland is passionate about bringing a trauma-informed lens into the educational setting and is excited to work with students. Mrs. Van Zeeland grew up in the Milwaukee County area and now resides just outside of the county. She lives with her husband and dog, Dash! In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, and traveling.

Whitney Wachs
Mrs. Wachs joined WIVA after 13 years as a high school counselor in traditional school settings. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from East Tennessee State University and her Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Over the years she has developed a passion for providing academic and college/career guidance for students and enjoys helping all students succeed and reach their goals. Mrs. Wachs lives in the Milwaukee area with her husband and daughter and loves traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jamie Wilson
Mrs. Wilson started out her career working in community mental health and non-profit settings. She graduated with her BA in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University in 2003, and earned her MS in Educational Counseling from National University in 2014. She has worked in HI, AZ, CA, MN, and WI. Mrs. Wilson considers herself a lifelong learner and enjoys a good challenge. She is licensed in Social Work and School Counseling, and is also a registered Yoga Teacher. She is currently finishing a Clinical Mental Health Certificate program at University of WI – Superior. Besides being a full-time High School Counselor, Mrs. Wilson works a few shifts every month doing on-call mobile-crisis response for her county. In her spare time, Mrs. Wilson loves spending time with her partner and their two kids. She enjoys playing cards, gardening (both indoor and outdoor), and gluten-free baking.
